Default Swaybar Hunting for a 99 LS

Hey guys Im looking to put a swaybar on my LS.

are there any that bolt straight up?

I've read a bit into this and it seems like alot require drilling and subframe reinforcement.
what's the deal? What do I need? And where can I get it?

Im new to hondas so I dont know that much about suspension mods and what they need. I could tell you just about anything about old VW's but Im a virgin when it comes to japanese cars.

Type R sway bar + beaks, bsq or ASR subframe kit.

yea the R sway bar is the biggest/best/costworthy option. im sure other people on here will tell it takes A LOT of mods to get it to fit right. i havent done it, just heard people say that.

I have a 96 GSR and i got a skunk 2 rear sway bar and the sub frame brace, I think skunk 2 calls it a lower arm bar. Anyway, they both don't fit and will require some modification. But unless you are going out to win the SOLO 1 nationals you won't need both. The sway bar bolts to the same spots as the sub frame brase, so actually it is acting as a subframe brase also. There is no welding to get them both to fit, i think it's just turning the bolts around and relocating some thing. I'm not 100% on that tho, you may need to do more than i think. Anyway, i don't think it's worth having two. Just get a strut bar for the rear along with your sway bar and you'll be doing the same thing. Just my 2 cents.

By the way i have a stock GSR sway bar if you are interested.

type R sway bar for the win. just do a bit of drilling to enlarge the mounting holes, and buy the BSQ and/or beaks kit to reinforce it, just in case.

It didn't take me too long or too much work to install the ITR sway bar onto my LS. It was well worth it. Im running a ITR sway bar in the front on my LS as well

im running st front and jdm itr rear with asr sub. i opt for st front cuz it was cheaper and came with all the moutning and same size front as itr 25mm. if i went with front itr i would nee dto get endlink of gsr/itr and nuts and bolts plus c clamp and 25mm bushings. wasnt cost effective for me. as for the rear just a lil drilling and removing and rerouting the abs lines and install everythign back in reverse. didnt take me to long about 30-40 mins. to do both. but that would depend on how fast your are.

Im running both front and rear GSR bars on my LS. I know the ITR rear is bigger, but the fronts are the same peice. Overall it made a nice difference. And I didnt have to worry about the rear end.

what exactly is involved?

you mention drilling something out, but what part exactly are you drilling? the swaybar? the subframe? the susupension arm?
If you dont mind, could you go into a little more detail about the install process? I think Im fully capable of installing a swaybar if I know what im doing... Hell I've rebuilt 3 vw engines and have done just about every repair possible. Honda's (so Im told) are way easier to work on.

I just get a little nervous any time im told I'll need to drill anything.

Also if anyone's got a parts list (parts numbers would be awesome) of all the parts I'd need like endlinnks, bolts, links, bushings, brackets, whatever's needed to install it'd really help me out alot.

Where is the best place to buy all this stuff? I dont know of many tuner shops around here that wont look at a whiteboy and immediately think Im an automotive idiot and try to price gouge me. Any cheap reliable online shops? do I order it all from the dealer? Im sure the dealer wont carry the reinforcement kits.

Thanks for the info so far, its been a big help.

All the stuff except the kit you can get from the dealer. The swaybar itself is only around $80. I'd go with the beaks kit personally, that's what I have and it's beefier than BSQ's...
