Recently I changed the driver side CV joint and axle in my EG. Everything went smoothly, except when i went to go drive it. When i put the car into gear I get nothing (manual transmission). At Idle with no gas applied, when i shift into 1st, my Speedo reads 20mph but im still standing still. As i go up through the gears the speedo also rises. I checked fluid levels in my transmission as well as clutch fluid...both are topped off. the axle seems to be seated into place inside of the transmission as well. Now I am clueless as to what is wrong. Any input is much appreciated.

 

It sounds like you don't have the cv seated all the way into the trans. there should be no gap between the trans case and the cv shaft.
