Buy a pickle fork for the ball joints.

If I dont have a punch I use a 1/4 ratchet extension and hammer it out. On the ball joint I loosen up the bolt on the bottom of the ball joint and bang on the arm and it usually falls down.

Wooden hammer is good for the ball joint.

Don't use a pickle fork unless you want to replace the boots, because you'll most likely tear them. Pick up a Pitman arm puller, available from Auto Zone, Pep Boys etc, it works like a charm. Just make sure you get it on straight so you don't damage the threads or the stud.
