Default B20 and B18 pulleys the same?

Are the pulleys on the b18's and b20's the same? ie. alternator, P/S, A/C pulleys.

I don't believe they are.

I've actually got an LS pulley on my B20, and my buddy's got [we think] a B20 pulley on his former-JRSC'd ITR. There's really no way to tell until you compare side by side.

Did you retain all your accessories in your b20 swap? I am intersted in the swap. if you dont recognize any underdrive then im sure they are close to the same.

the pulley on the b20 is larger than the LS....
infact people with superchargers often swap out the LS pulley for the b20 pulley to generate more boost.

I have the b20 crank pulley still on my b20... i just found the right sized belts to make it all work.

and its obvious which one is an LS and which is a b20... they arent similar... the b20 one is much bigger than the LS one.
the alternator pulley segment in perticular is much bigger.

I would like to put on aftermarket pulleys and found that unorthodox doesnt have a set for the b20. could i maybe find an overdrive kit for an LS and maybe would be close to stock on a b20?

I have no personal experience with this... so dont take this as fact. BUT, i have heard from several guys on HT as well as from a friend of mine who has built several B motors that UR pulleys = engine failure due to something related to harmonic balancers or something. Idk, but just investigate bro... engine failure = bitch.

hey when you swapped crank pulleys was it a mission or did you have to mess with the timing?? Worried about messing up the timing when switching over my ls crank.

Just freaking eye ball the belts! they size the belts by half an inch, bring the belt in and grab a slightly longer one stretch them side by side to make sure its about as long as you need it. The tensioner on the A.C, Alternator will pick up the little slack left. Not hard at all.

Swapping the crank pulley wont change the timing just pull it off and put the other one on, it can only go on one way because its keyed!

Don't ever use a Unorthadox under drive crank pulley unless you want to destroy the engine. Stick with a LS or B20 harmonic balancer.

thank you! I really appreciate it I actually ordered a 1/2 impact gun and heavy weight crank pulley socket for the job. I already have both engines out of the car and just seems easier to remove the crank pulleys with an impact gun and weighted socket.

Yea I do it all the time this way, if its on real good, try using a propane torch and heat up the bolt! then use the impact gun and gun it off!
