low 11's if I recall, He had a hard time getting that thing going for almost two years, he latter switched to a pinto motor and went 9's maybe 8's. We also had a focus during that same time but it was unibody, put down 580 something and went 10.50's

 

Google RJ Simrok...he drove the AEBS focus and it ran in the 7's back in the day.

 

yeah, rear wheel drive, tube chassis, cosworth engine. after is was bought the brits or something like that, Owner of AEBS drove it fliped it then was scarred to drive, so RJ took over.

Was that a blue one? I remember seeing a blue one back in the day..It was a pretty nice looking car..

I believe it was first a silver ford probe driven by Wayne Saunders, then later turned into the ford focus..Then bought, then flipped twice..? etc..

 

That car came from England and used to be a Ford Probe until Ford came out with the Focus body and they changed it, then Ben Ma bought it. Atleast that is what I read back in the day.

I asked RJ Simrock at VMP once too and he agreed that was correct but wondered how the hell I knew lol

Yes the Blue one it was a very nice car. It was way ahead of its time. To bad the guys from STR could not get it to work. I built that car from the ground up alone and they still owe me money from 1999

 

LOL. f@ck tom I can't believe ur still pissed about it after all these years. I was there with you half way into the project and I know how much work you put into it which was alot, I also learned quite a bit from you back then.... but dam let it go. I remember after you left we had to work twice as hard to get the program going again but we did it. We raced agianst you in palmdale, you were in the toyota truck (turbo), Cesar drove the focus and we went 10.58 and the car had alot more in it .

 

To answer the original post the car you are talking about was cut up when the ford program fell apart. It was turned into the car sean had as the srt. very beautiful car.

Sean builds some of the best cars there is today.

Hey you were an "STR Guy" too if I recall , And I also remember you breaking your fair share of motors on the dyno TOM. Hope ur doing well.

wow that was along time ago... i remember that whole deal..

but i do remember doing the fiberglass doors, lid, and hood for that car came out beautiful.

 

They were pretty nice for using a chopper gun!

Nope none of my motors broke on the dyno. The motors all came from eslinger and let me tell you they where a joke what pieces of s--t those guys had no clue. If you rember correctly I took all my motors I still have them. Do you know anybody that needs focus motors (LOL) I will let them go real cheep.

As for the fiber glass there was no chopper gun involved all hand laid glass the best money could buy. Thanks parks.

Yeah ur kind of right...... remember the mtor you did using GSR parts . but gave out in maryland cus you refused to use the dry sump... if not for that I think It would have done quite, well.

 

ME ME ME I will tell ya

The owner of STR at the time has a problem. He thinks it is ok not to pay the people who make his parts. Not one STR part was made at STR it was all made by the one and only Ted and Vince Tiaga of Golden eagle. Well STR never paid them and that is why golden eagle started selling the parts to all of us. There is more but I do not want to bore you guys with all of this bs. All I can say is that if it was not for myself Ron b LJ Garcia Vince Tiaga and the best machinest of all time Ted Tiaga. There would have never been a STR.

Thanks Ted, Vince, Ron and LJ for all the good momeries it was a blast while it lasted at STR
