f@uck Yeah... that brings back many memories. It must be at upland ford because Louie Works there as their engine guy and he use to build our motors after Tom left str.

What a shame......that is a clean *** car!!!
Tom can you explain the front suspension, I may be looking at the picture wrong, but how does it have any travel........or even move with that bar with heim ends on it connecting the lower arm to the chassis?
They may have done that, just curious.

It was solid...just the slick for suspension

Not that i think it's the best idea, but JJ's car was like that and it went 8.40 with a not so great combination!

It is also illegal...............But it would be great for the first 80 foot or so......after that bunps in the track turn into tire spin.

No but I can. That was added later in the project after Tom left We were having trouble (not enough time to tune sus.) so we decided to go solid if the front. at the time Steph (98 civ.) and Shawn C.(focus) were doing it and were haveing good results by eliminating one variable. At the time the rules were revised to say that the car must have full working sus, which it did that is why we kept the shocks in place. Funny though, I don't think they ever said anything to Steph and Shawn about it.

Thanks FMunk Alot of thought and work went into this car. Rember that I built that car in 1999 and there was no real rules at the time. But that was put on there after the car was stolen from me.
There was no problem with the suspention that was on the car. You guys just did not know how to make it work.
The first pass in that car was a 1.41 in 1999 and no wheele bars.
If I do recal Bergenholtz has video of the first Pass I made in that car.

No, I was there it was a closed track for the ford guy's only Tom. The car Went all over the place and went 11:80's in maryland first pass ever, as a matter of fact I helped you change the head gasket right before, we were even missing the ford timing belt alignment tool . I do remember and That suspension was wack from the get go. Do you remember what shocks were on the front, I do.
PS: no one said there was anything wrong with the suspention, just no time to tune it. the whole car changed after you left. maybe Scott Miller will chime in.

Freddy you bumped your head a little to hard to many times. I know waht was on that car like it was yesterday. So please do not try to quiz me on it.
I hate to say this to you but you guys where all a bunch of nut swingers with the STR guys with a stolen free car. If I where you I would leav this whole thing alone. And tell Freddy to give me back my car you know he still has it and I just found out today where it is. I will be paying the guys at that shop a visit very soon.
I was not going to post anymore about this car but you have me all pissed off not your fault but I am pissed.
This is how it all went down
Let me break it down for you guys. I was the crew chief on Ed Bergenholtz CRX for many years While I worked for STR. One day the ford guys came to us and asked if we where intrested in building a race car with the ford badge and Ed the owner of the CRX at the time said no that he was not intrested in working with the ford guys. So I asked Ed bergenholtz if he would have a problem if I built the ford with the ford guys. As a friend he said no. So not being a ford guy I asked Fred from STR if he would be intrested in helping me with this project. At that time he was estatic and said hell ya this is going to be cool. So we at that time made a proposal to ford as The Tom Jung STR Ford Focus. I had the deal already so they just needed a single page so they could justify giving us the money and the car. Well a few months went buy we got everything together I had a race in new Jersey at the pan american nationals with our CRX so I sent Freddy Gordon and a guy named Darrom Munnerlad to Detroit in my place to finalise the deal. But My buddy Freddy had gone to KInkos before he got to Ford and changed the proposal From Tom Jung and STR to just STR so during the entire build we had money problems and I did not understand so I called the ford guys and asked them what was going on they told me that they had been sending checks to STR. Freddy and his wife at the time where having problems so he was trying to make things right with her by using my ford money to buy his wife a kitchen a new car and a phat new ring. So there was no money to finish the car. So I at this point took a loan out to finish this car. To my asament when I came home from a road trip with the ford gys Freddy tells me to leave his car at the shop and get my stuff out. I called the ford guys and that was how I found out what he did with the proposal. All my personal mone and time gone.
This is just a bit of what this guy does. Beware of these kind of people.

To be exact it belongs to Vince Tiaga of Golden Eagle as of now. It says so in the lawsuit he has won against STR. But it never belonged to STR so Who knows.
But if I get it back I would love to give it to vince becaus he deserves it as much as I do.
