Hello fellow Honda-Tech friends, I have yet another question. . .
I drive an 88 CRX Si, and i was at a red light when my car started to idle up and down. It idles to 1500 RPM's and then back down to 1000 and up again and down etc etc. . . I also noticed that my cluster lights seem to dim a little when this happens. Any ideas on what the problem may be? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! I want to fix this ASAP!
Thanks again!!

This would be the case if it only does it after warming up.
Does the car idle normally before it's warmed up? Are you getting any CELs?

I'd say your fluctating lights is just the alternator charging more at the higher RPM's. As for the idle issue, here's a quick way to figure out if it is the IACV or the TICV. Take off your intake tube so you can put your fingers inside the throttle body throat. Start the car and wait for the idle to get stupid. Once idle starts to fluctuate, put your finger over the top hole then the bottom hole on the firewall side of the inside of the TB (you can see the 2 holes when you look in the TB). If the idle stabilizes when you put your finger over the top hole, it is associated with the IACV located on the back of the intake. If it stabilizes when you put your finger over the bottom hole, it's the TICV on the bottom of the TB.

Spray it with carb or MAF cleaner.

my car does this too, it idles at 1200 and the other day we were workin on it and now it idles at 1500.... before it used to go up and down but not dramatically... only if something like the lights turned on or every time the system hit.. but what does the ICAV or TICV mean???
