Need help about retro fit relay.
i finished wiring up my relay for my retro fit.
this is my diagram

but at first when i turned my lgihts on none worked. then i went outside and tapped on my left side headlight, and it turned on. but the right side is still not working. i had to drive with only the left light on. and once in a while the left headlight would flicker off and back on.
anyone got any solurtions. i grounded the wire properly to the side wall.

First off, your diagram doesn't help because you didn't label the relay pins to show us how everything is hooked up.
Second, why are the ballast neg wires capped off instead of hooking them to ground.
Second, why are the ballast neg wires capped off instead of hooking them to ground.
the wire to the battery is 30
wire to the ballast is 37
wire to stock positive harness is 35
and wire to ground is 36
and also i forgot the mention, i added a 30 fuse between the relay and battery.
i caped off some wires because some guy on here told me i had to. maybe ill ground them too.
i figured out what the flickering was due to, due to my foot touching the relay.
anyone else got any answers???

so just ground all the neg wires i have caped? hmm where on the car will there be no paint? isnt pretty much all of it is painted?
and does anyone got an answer to why only one side works?

Just finish your diagram by grounding the ballast wires instead of capping them.
Here's how mine are wired:
86- ground from stock head light wire
85- pos from stock headlight wire
30- +12V fused
87- pos wire from ballasts
And then the ground wire from the ballasts are grounded to bolt where the battery is grounded.
Also, Theres no need for both stock headlight pos wires to be hooked to pin 85 of the relay, you only need to hook up one. Same goes for the stock neg wire if you follow the way I did it. But you can cap off the stock neg wires and leave pin 86 the way you have grounded if you like. Just make sure those ballasts are grounded.

alright, last night i hooked up everything according to ^. everything works fine.

but ^ shows that they hook up the positive wire from both ballast to the relay. will it make a difference? i hooked it up the way you said ( just hooking up one side of the ballast to the relay).
well i just want to know if it matters or not. if it doesnt then ill leave it alone.

A single 30-amp relay is enough to drive both HID ballasts. However, I prefer to use one per side, because if nothing else it reduces the amount of wiring I have to run across the front of the car.
So think of it this way. You have a ballast which needs power and ground, and it needs to be switched on and off with the headlight switch. Normally, Honda runs the current for the headlights through the headlight switch.
What you're doing with the relay is putting another "switch" in the power wire going to the ballast, and then using the headlight switch to switch the "switch" (relay). Confused yet?
So the 30 and 87 terminals are the two sides of the "switch", it goes in the power supply for the ballasts (between the battery and ballast). The 86 and 85 terminals can each hook up to the positive and negative wires of the stock headlight harness, since those wires are already switched by the headlight switch inside the car.
So now the headlight switch only opens or closes the relay, which takes the current from the battery and sends it to ballasts.
So of course each ballast still needs a chassis ground. Don't worry about grounding either of the stock headlight harness wires, because that already has a ground. Just make sure to run the headlight harness power wire to either the 85 or 86 terminal, and then the other terminal goes to the headlight harness ground wire.

so does that mean i do need to connect the other headlight too?
i wired up my set up following:

so i go back and hook the right side ballast positive wire to the 87 pin too?

Yes, both ballast positive wires need to come off of the 87 pin (or run 2 separate relays, with each 87 pin going to its own ballast positive wire).
86 should connect to the positive wire of one of your factory headlight harness wires.
85 should go to either the factory harness negative wire, or to chassis ground (right now you have 85 and 86 backwards, I was wrong before because some relays have a diode between 85 and 86 and you can only hook it up one way).
And you ballast negative wires should go to chassis ground, NOT back to the headlight switch.
Check this PDF: http://dlcparts.com/images/BoschGuide.pdf Go down to page 29 figure A. Where it shows "Lights" in the diagram, substitute your HID ballasts.

on the having 85 and 86 backwards, this is the diagram i used.

i thought it didnt matter about the 85 and 86 how we put it.

I never said to only hook up one ballast to pin 87, I said ballasts (plural as in two) and the diagram shows the exact same. Anyways don't worry about pin 85 and 86, your obviously doesn't have a blocking diode on it if you've got them to work.
oh, ok. thanks for all the help people
thats why h-t is so great.
what am i suppose to do with the stock right side headlight harness? do i just leave it there, since nothing is connecting to it.
and isnt connecting the negative wires from the ballast to the negative wire on the stock headlight harness the same as grounding it?

nothing on the OEM headlight harness should be connecting to the ballasts. The ballasts connect to the relay (and to chassis ground) only. The headlight harnesses should also connect to the relay only. They should not be connecting to each other.
ok so to finally end this thread.
30 to battery
87 to both ballast positive wire
85 to one positive stock headlight harness
86 to ground
ground both ballast negative wire
and leave the the other wires alone
sound right?

triangular pizza looking thing is the stock headlight switch
