Default resetting ecu...

i am throwing code 22 if i am reading it right. there are 2 long blinks and 2 short blings. do long blinks represent 10 and short 1. it has to do with vtec. i think i got all the wiring right. but i need to reset the ecu to see...i read in the manual that i need to unplug the hazard fuse for 10 sec. do i do this with the the battery unplugged or plugged in. and do i do it with the car running or shut off. is this the way to restart the ecu.

Do it with the car off, and you can have the battery hooked up, dont make any difference. Dont have any power in the car on though.

Is it the same for resetting the ecu on a 89 civic? if so, where can i find the hazard fuse. The previous owner lost the manual and therefore i don't know where the hazard fuse is. I imagine its in the fuse box under the hood cause the fuse inside were labeled. Thanks again.

Three ways to reset the ecu.

1. Pull the hazard fuse
2. Unplug the ecu
3. Disconnect the battery

If you undo any of these leave them undone for 15-30 seconds to reset the ecu.

Once you clear the code it won't come back until the car runs again. Even then it usually takes a minute for the codes to appear.

Does the ECU blink once when you turn the car on?

Check your fuses again, and check the alternater fuse under the dash. That can be why its not starting now. ANd if your fan relay is bad, just wire it up, where it comes on whenever the car starts..

I just threw code 22 a couple minutes ago, it's the VTEC oil pressure switch, if you have a VAFC that could do it, at least that is what's causing mine. I have to still hook up the final wire to fix it.

Your car has to be off and pull that fuse for a minimum of 15 seconds, works everytime.

Can anyone tell me what the small white plug (with 4 wires I think) is? Its the one located inside the fuse box next to the main batt fuse all the way to the right of that pic. I had a small mishap with my car in whitch my alternator decided it didnt feel like being regulated anymore and it should throw out 20volts for fun. It cracked my batt, fried the comp, and screwed up a bunch of sensors. Thats all i've found so far! Anyways... I finally got my car to crank but not start after a few hours. every time i turned the key on fuse 14 (alternator and solenoid valve) under the dash would blow. I got so frustrated I just shoved a jumper wire in the fuse slot and the car started. After running for a few seconds smoke started puking out of the fuse block under the hood. It was coming out around that small white plug, So i disconnected it! lol. With it unpluged and a 10A fuse back in #14 slot the car started and ran. Its been a couple weeks driving around with that plug off and asside from it seemingly needing a throttle position sensor, the cars running fine.

Long story short, I cant figure out what the hell that plug is for!
Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanx
