Default odd question really

for sohc and dohc motors that honda produces. does vtec(like the cylinoid itself) does that actually add power?? like, has anybody dynoed a b16 or b18c1 or anything similar, via dohc vtec with there vtec not working properly and therefore vtec not hitting........has anybody seen a power difference on a dyno? or do we just all asume if vtec is not working that we automatically are loseing power???

and this question goes the same with soch vtec engines as well. sorry if it is hard to understand my theory.

youre asking if vtec actually helps regarding to power? yes it does but unfortunately i dont have a dyno graph of the same car on a dyno with and without vtec.

its very noticeable if the vtec is not working.

The cam(s) on a Vtec engine has two profiles. The low profile is for regular "normal person" driving. It saves gas and provides a bit less power. The higher lift profile opens the valves a bit more and longer and provides more power but uses more gas. Vtec engines allow economical engines to have a bit of extra kick when you "stomp on it" for whatever reason.
