lots of rain and must have gotten into cold air intake.......knocks allot and gets faster at higher rpm/z..........some told me to check for bent valves and some told me to get a valve adjustment....what should i do and how do i check for these things myself........?

 

Get a manual.

i suggest helms, then haynes if you can't afford a helms.

 

if you have a bad knock that gets faster as engine speed increases, then your motor is hosed sorry to say.

 

and when u say hosed.......ur implying that it is going to **** and that i am screwed......no way to just replace the head or the valves or tighten the lifters or springs or anything simple like that?>

 

when water mixes with oil it destroys the lubrication properties in oil, highest point of friction will most likely be destroyed first, rod/main bearings, thus explaining your knock that increases with engine speed. so there is pretty much no way to band-aid fix this one. sorry man

 

Did you have a bypass valve?

 

no....ive heard of them but never really thought of getting one myself....i guess i should have and i need to now that this has happened for the future....anyways.........i dont wanna use the money to do a swap quite yet so is there anywhere anyone knows where to get myself another cheap d16y7 or whatever will hookup to my car right now without changing out allot of parts/....?

 

More than likely you bent a rod and more than likely it's going to shoot through the side of your block.

If you want to drive it and avoid doing that, do NOT rev the motor up high...eventually it will give, but if you don't rev it as hard then you won't put as much stress on the engine and it MAY last longer.
