try doing a valve lash adjustment, that could be your problem, there are detailed instuctions in any helms or chiltons manual.

are your valves ticking? or do you have a knock... its not normal to have your engine knocking.

hmm first look up what the clearances should be... then go find some feeler guages. pop off your valve cover and check them with the gauges... some cars the motor has to be at operating temp, some have to cold etc... go buy a chilton, or haynes.

what I have found is that the honda accord and prelude engines have a problem with the main bearings. the usually get loud with hard use, but as the dealer said it will last forever like that. you always have the option of having them replace them, but they will charge you an arm and leg maybe a toe too

ummm if your main bearings are so worn theyre making noise you should probably replace them... do it yourself its not hard.

Hmm my car had a ticking noise when i got it it had about 65k on it .. all i did was replace my pvc valve... it cost like 5 bucks and took 3 mins to change.. it located on top of yoru valve cover towards the back.. pust pull it out then out of the hoes its attached to .. i used plyers to pinch the metal band... then install the new one using the reversed process iunno if this is it but it helps out with sum of the noise

our motors always sounds like a sewing machine.

try the valve adjustment first... it is cheap and easy.
