Default HELP!! GSR intake manifold

Hey guys, iv been working on my project car (92 eg hatch) for a while now, and i just got my motor back in.. but ran into a few problems on the way... first off.. i have a 97 gsr motor, with the stock intake manifold... i am running a t3 garrett turbo...

I decieded to take out the butterflies in the stock manifold because i heard you can run it that way on a boosted gsr and it will help in a lot of ways... well when i did that, it took about an inch clearance out, so now my throttle body is right next to the water pump i wanna say, where the radiator hoses plug into the back of the block..

question here, is has anyone ever done this.? if so can you post pics of what it looks like?? also can you take pics of what your vacuum line setup looks like as well??

Thanks!

I don't know the answer but I do agree with what the other guy said. GSR intake manifolds aren't that great and it'd be beneficial to get an aftermarket one. I figured I'd just say that because you weren't getting any responses.

so how did your throttle body get closer to the thermostat?(The water pump is run by the timing belt I doubt it got closer to that)the throttle body doesn't bolt to the secondary butterfly does it? So I don't understand could you explain better or even better post some pics

Just upgrade your IM, it'll save you this headache and give you better performance

1.) the throttle body is on the opposite side of the engine from the water pump, so I'll just assume you mean thermostat.

2.) I'll assume since you're complaining about clearance that means you did the 100% wrong thing and just removed the center section of your intake manifold. Next time you're looking to make a budget upgrade to your car, make sure you know what the **** you're doing or you're going to end up breaking ****. That center section adds a significant amount to the plenum volume and, because you removed it, you've created an IM that won't flow jack **** under boost.

Well done you.
