the guy that built my motor is saying i might have a cracked piston. i did a compression test on it and it came up 185 160 185 155. when i put a little oil down the spark plug hole, the low number cylinders came back up to 185. the motor only has 900 miles on it. when the motor was rebuilt, we reused the same pistons and now he is saying that there might be a tiny crack that they missed when they put everything together.

now im thinking that its just a bad job of putting the rings in. the car runs great, just burns a ton of oil. hes going to tear it down again, but i was just wondering if it would even make sense to even think its a piston as opposed to the rings...

the probability that you have a cracked piston rather than a bad ring, bad valve seal, is very low. its not easy to crack a piston.
