need help identifying turbo

Default need help identifying turbo

im new to turbos and have been all over your faq section for the last few hours looking for an answer but nothing. i got this turbo and i dont know what it comes off of. i know its a garrett of some sort but it has a ford logo on it. can some one give me some info on it and tell me its worth. like i said i been searching but no luck. im pointing to the ford logo in the 3rd pic. its right unger what looks like a sun with an underline 6 in the middle

In a T3 form that is Holsets from the diesel trucks are probabally the best JY turbos

wow! this is great news. im planning on collecting parts for my homemade turbo. would you guys say this is a good find if it turns out in good condition.

How much did you pay?

As far as manifold, I would just get a cast manifold if you are on a tight budget, usually you can get them for around $100.

heres the manifold. i got the mani just as is with turbo on it. it came wth a bov and two turbo timers. also came with a fmic for 400. i was going to give him my rims and cash but things changed. how bad did i over pay? heres the hatch its going in. cant wait .[/QUOTE][/QUOTE]

What kind of W/G is that? open the top and check the diaphram. Hows the shaft play on the turbo? does it spin freely?

im a total turbo noob. i wouldnt know how to check diaphram. i dont have my alan wrenches with me but i will open it tommorow. the turbo spins freely as far as i can check. i been doing a lot of reading up on turbos this past week but i have lots to learn. thanks for educating me. is this a better turbo than a dsm turbo?

Yes, but when you take it off look for cracks and ripps. Also grab the screw on the end of the turbine and kind of lightly pull it up and down and push and pull it. it will have some movement(even new ones do) but it should feel like it has miles of room in there. Also what are you using to tune, and are there any cracks in that mani?
