Driver side Window Regulator
I have a 1996 LX (power windows & locks) and my driver side window used to have full functionality, but now window doesn't move when I want it to slide down. To avoid the interior from getting wet, vandalism or possible theft, I leave it up. Does the whole regulator need to be replaced? My Haynes book shows me how to do it but I dont really trust it. Does anyone have any pics and steps in how to change the regulator Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.
I think the plastic part on the track broke. Same like my case. Replacement is easy... Here's a few steps... (All in my 96 Accord Coupe EX, but should be almost the same)
-Pop off the speaker cover
-there is a cover covering the screws located near the door arm rest. Its plastic. Remove the screw near the interior door handle.
-It should be really loose now. the panel
-Remove the black triangle part, near the side mirror
-Pull up the interior door panel (pretty heavy on my Coupe)
-Disconnect the connectors (I had trouble with the side mirror adjustment, so try to pop out that switch. Either way, i suggest you take out the switch for reinstallment)
-Now you should see a plastic covering. Peel back as much as possible. I Poked a few holes in the plastic holding the rail.
-You have to get smart at this time, push down the window as soon as you line up the bolts with the holes. Remove the bolts holding the window to the track
-Now push the window all the way up and tape it so it doesn't fall on you
-Take out all necessary screws and connectors. There is a little plastic clip holding the wires.
-Install new one, and thats all.
I suggest buying one from Honda. Those eBay ones are crap. I wasted my money. ebay ones had smoke coming out... Just bad.
Oh yea at this time, you might want to clean the window tracks. Hope this helps you.

I'm guessing the window regulator is what tells the window to go up or down? From the driver's main control for my passenger side rear seat, I can put the window down, but not up. In the rear passenger seat, it will move up and down regularly. Would that be the regulator or a problem elsewhere in the wiring?
