Default gsr motor clearence problem?

my 93 hatch has a gsr motor in it, and a few months ago the car was primer, with im guessing all the stock body parts, like hood and crap... anyway, i got hit by this moron in a jeep and thanks to state farm, i got a brand new paint job for free ( )
the body shop guy bought this aftermarket replacement hood, and after he finished painting the car, he called us, and we went to his shop, and right as we got there, the hood was up, and i closed it to see what the car would look like with the hood down, and what not, and i noticed 3 little nipples on the hood from something hitting it underneath. turns out my valve cover didnt clear the hood and made 3 little dents on my brand new hood my hood bump stops are all the way up, and my hood still wont clear the motor. i was just curious if it was the hood or if anyone else had this problem. thanks

I would suspect the hood way before I suspected the motor.

what type of accident was it. was there alot of front end damage? is your radiator support beam aligned, damaged free?

then there is the problem with the hood. it's an aftermarket oem replacement right? if so, they usually are not made exactly to oem specs. chances are it's the hood. how good is the body shop, they should be able to massage the hood right to clear, if not, i would spend some time looking at the car again, under a microscope.

aftermarket hoods are cheap and they arnt made exactly the same, so you might have some clearance issues. i had a problem before with a aftermarket. even my carbon fiber hod hits my valve cover

i got hit in the fender, and it was just hard enough to knock off my bumper, but the body shop guy said the car was severly wrecked before because the opposite side where i got hit was WORSE that the side where i got hit. i was told it had frame damage, and the radiator support was damaged. then again we paid like 40 bucks for a new hood, so thats probably it.
