I need new rotors, so I might as well ask all of you what you think is better... Duralast or Brembo rotors.... and should I get drilled and slotted or just blanks.. by the way I have discs in the front and drums in the back, no ABS.

 

Duralast FTW!!! Cheap and effective.

Even if there is a difference, I'm positive it's minimal. Better pads/fluid would make more of a difference than the difference in those rotors.

So to remove my stock rotors i need to hammer out the screw? I don't wanna strip it.... and how do I put it back on?

 

If it won't screw out with mild effort, hit it with some pb blaster. If that doesn't work, get an impact screwdriver.

it's not just hammering it out. you will need a impact driver. this what it looks like:

if they do happen to get stripped, because they can and possible will. the easiest way to remove them is to drill them out. unfortunatly i don't have my drill bit set to tell you what size, but it has to be narrow enough to go through the hole on the spindle/hub.

it's quite simple, not as bad as it sounds.

depending on cost get the brembos... I have them on my 91 se-r with metal master pads which I expected to eat up the rotors. two years later the rotors look nearly new.. I doubt that generic rotors would have held up as well. BTW I got the brembos from nopi for a very reasonable price

 

The good thing about Duralast is lifetime warranty

if you do end up drilling it out there is no need to go as far as the hub all you have to do is get the chamfered head to fall off then the rotor will come off. the bolt is m8 so a 5/16 drill bit should work

i don't even deal with the impact driver, too time consuming.

 

Duralast is fine. If you want to spend the extra $$$ on Brembo's then all the more power to you. Its your money...........

 

Brembo rotors go for about $29 Each.

Duralast Are $27 Each

In this case, I'd say get the brembo's for the $4 difference.

Who knows, it might have a slightly different/better composition.

OP: The brembos tend to wear longer if you're going to push the car really hard (ie multiple lap track sessions).
For a street machine that may get pushed from time to time it can go either way, which ever you can get cheaper.

yeah its all about the metallurgy. can't comment on the duralast, but I seen cheap rotors that only last as long as the equally cheap pads thet were used with
