Default Black Ek/Em Interior!

So after reading some threads on how much people hate their type K interior, I took my freetime to make my type K into Type B (Black). Overall I am pretty impressed with the results, i have seen many different methods as to painting interior parts... This is what I used to Paint, I think so far everything has came out great

1. Remove Panels to be painted without breaking clips
2. Next Sand them with 800 grit sandpaper ( You dont have do this, I think it was helpful, its more important to get any oils, grease or anything that isnt plastic off the panel you are painting)
3. Clean with wet rag/ Rubbing alcohol then dry
4. I used Oem Trim Paint made by Duplicolor
5. I used 3 Coats of this paint, but coat until you reach your desired color
6. Let the Panels Dry and Reinstall back into car and enjoy

Few Facts just to be know
1. The Paint will come off if it is scratched
2. The paint didnt make my car smell that bad
3. Enjoy Black Interior
4. I used Trim paint because of its good adhesion qualities and the fact that it is used on the outside of cars for the trim for those of you who dont have painted Mirrors, Door trim and door handles

I will update the post as I go but so far i Have painted most of the panels, I took pictures so you could all see the difference in the color because at night it seems very subtle but during the day( and taking pictures w/flash, really shows the difference)

(Dont Mind dirty panels, I painted them but we were doing alot of work in the garage so they got dusty )

Takata Green shoe Laces FTW

Look at the Color Difference

Forgot to paint around the steering wheel, savin it for tommorow

looks good -- do you plan on matching everything else to it though...steering wheel (not the plastic parts you mentioned), rest of the dash, the fabric on the arm rest??

definitely looks good though

I've always wanted to do this but I'm a little hesitant and it looks like it would take a lot of time, especially the dash part.

Does it scratch off easily? The more I look at that pic the more I'm tempted to do it .

Nope. Didn't scratch or rub off if prepped/layed down correctly.

I think most people see the best results with dye.

I've seen vinyl dye results first hand and it's the only way I'd do the vinyl.

I could see how doing the plastic with the paint would be the best option though, I've yet to see a plastic dye product.

DAMN, that looks nice. I've been thinking of doing a few things to my interior to kinda make it look a little better and not so gray. DFW, do you remember roughly how long it took you? Any idea would be better than nothing. Any idea on how expensive the dye is? That def. looks really nice and I'm def. going to consider this in the future. Have any more pics? Please post them or pm them to me.
