WRONG! A OEM itr lsd will NOT bolt up in his b16 tranny. The OEM lsd will only bolt up in a GSR or type-r tranny. If he wants a OEM lsd in his b16, he will have to just go ahead and buy the 4.785 final drive kit, or buy the USDM type r 4.4 ring gear, counter shaft, pin bearings and first gear. The b16 ring gear will not bolt onto the lsd. If you want to put an lsd in your b16 and thats it nothing else, then you have to go aftermarket.

WRONG. The OEM ITR LSD doesn't "bolt up" to any trans. It floats between the two cases. The only bolts on the differential are for the ring gear. Most people don't pull off the 4.4 ITR/GSR ring gear because it mates with the stock B16 4.4 countershaft.
He doesn't have to buy a new ring gear, why would the prev owner remove it? They could swap b16 diff for itr diff and just leave the gear intact.
PS: ITR countershaft and B16 Countershaft and GSR countershaft are all the same part.
You don't know what you're talking about.

This is the exception, then the OP would have to replace those parts or get a GSR or ITR ring gear.
Or go aftermarket.

Yes, the 2nd gen's have all been pulled and replaced with 3rd gen obx lsd's that don't have any problems with locking.
Though the locking problem in the 2nd gen was easily resolved by just aligning the washers inside the differential.

Thats exactly what i'm talking about!!!!
So your gonna tell me that if the OP finds a ITR LSD on ebay or where ever he'll be able just bolt on his B16 ring gear. I installed 2 4.785 final drives into b16a trannys. The b16a ring gear will not bolt on to a ITR LSD. NO ****** **** the LSD's don't bolt onto the tranny. OF course it floats. DO i have to be specific and say the LSD has 2 carrier bearings on it that fit into the tranny case, and that after you install it you have to check for clearances. I thought the USDM b16s have a 4.2 final drive that that all those parts would have to be replaced, if he ends up installing a 4.4 ring gear.
So what some people leave the ring gear on their lsd, there are tons of OEM LSD's sold with no ring gears. I don't know every oem counter shaft part number and what you can use where. I just wanted to correct the 2 posts that said he can install a oem lsd into his b16. Its not a direct bolt on, OH wait its not a DIRECT FLOAT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
