i would say check your map sensor. any changes of air pressure would cause your car to die.

How does it die, does it just shut off in the middle of driving, please be a bit more specific, and if you can give some examples.

ok, you want the CEL to stay on steady. if you can get it to stay on, follow the directions on this link. it will help pin point your problem.

you don't need the light to stay on steady to pull codes

isn't this pretty typical symptoms of a bad main relay?

The MIL does turn off when you solve a problem, or if it is intermittent, but it will store a code in the ECU regardless, and it will stay there until you drive around at full warm 40 times without the same problem, unless you disconnect the battery.

If the check engine light is "FLASHING" this means that there is possible catalyst damage and the vehicle is misfiring, not getting enough air, or getting to much fuel. any one of these things would cause a rich condition cause the mil to flash and possible cause the car to die due to wrong Air fuel ratio. but you need to get it checked out by a profresional if you are not some what automotive inclined cause the longer you wait the more $$$$$$$$$$$ its going to cost you!
