Civic EK H22 swap with a crazy problem need some expert advise.
Finished the H22 swap. Engine runs but I have to keep my foot on the throttle to keep it running. I notice that the new chrome header pipe on #1 cylinder did change color like the other 3 cylinders. Change spark plugs and wires.Still no change. Inspected Fuel Injector and found #1 cylinder injector bad. Clean injector and got it to start working again. By the way I have NO codes. Drove car to friends house and here's the list of things we checked.
1) Checked wiring from injectors to ECU. Checked good.
2) Checked wiring distributor to ECU. Checked good.
3) Checked internal timing of camshafts. Checked good.
4)Checked valve back lash. Checked good.
5) Compression check. Checked good.
6)Friend has a program where he run the engine thru his laptop instead of ECU. Found ECU to be good.
Now here where the crazy stuff we found. Start the engine ,RPM around 1200 the engine is running rough. We pulled #1 spark plug wire. Engine runs the same. Installed #1 plug wire and pulled #2 plug wire. The engine RPM decreased. Install#2 and removed #3 plug wire. The engine RPM decrease. Installed #3 and removed #4 plug wire and the RPM INCREASES.
Do we have any experts out there that can tell us what we are missing?

Block off the EGR and see if it doesn't improve. Your symptoms are nearly exactly like another guy that just posted.
