friend got his oil change and...
they overfilled it by atleast 1 quart! we drained some and now its normal.
could anything be messed up? if so what should i check for?
its a 99 base

Worse case scenario: too much crankcase pressure caused some oil to leak out of some oil seals and the PCV valve sucked up excess oil vapors and they got burned and coated the inside of the intake manifold a little bit.
It's probably not going to hurt anything realistically....you might check around for new leaks but no biggie.
Edit: crankcase pressure instead of oil pressure

i dont think adding too much oil will increase pressure. oil pressure is controlled by the oil pump and how fast it spins. a little too much oil wont hurt anything and alot too much oil will just give the crank a bath....not a good idea.
Certainly not trying to start an arguement here, but does the crankcase not get pressurized while the engine is running? Wouldn't more fluid in there leave less space for the air pressure making it a bit higher...I guess I should have said crankcase pressure rather than oil presure....
the crankcase does get pressure from blowby, but i wouldnt think pressure would be any greater from the oil level being high, because there is an open vent at the intake and also the pcv under vaccum.
i could see the front and rear mains leaking but only if the oil is up past that level and just running out of them.
anythings possible i guess.....
