Nothing is ever worth doing at the dealer. About a 1/4 of that stuff NEEDS to be done. The rest of it is some tech checking boxes.

These civics get spark plugs at 110k with the timing belt.

I work at a dealership. I make sure my customers always get what they pay for. My customers never get ripped off and always get my best ability.

I hate it when bad techs get employed. They ruin the perception that customers have of technicians and shops in general and make it hard for me to earn trust.

i'm confident that honda's service men know what they're doing, but the prices they charge are often outrageously high

Honda has no service interval for power steering fluid replacment. A typical 90k on these cars is two fluids and three filters plus a comprehensive safety inspection. If you know how cars fail and wear out and you can change some filters and fluids, then you can do all this yourself.
