Default please help: car is always overheating!

here is the story...

I bought a 91' dx crx about a year ago. The car drove fine with the wimpy d15b2. I did a d16z6 swap and ever since the car overheats. sometimes it will drive fine for a week or two and then it will overheat. I will think the problem is gone and then it will overheat again. I have a pwr/fullrace 1/2 radiator, flexible lower rad hose, new upper rad hose, thermostat, waterpump, autozone 12" electric fan (which I always have on). Since I added the turbo the car overheats a little more frequently; but not much. I've tried to drive the car without the front bumper and it will go without overheating for a long time or not overheat at all. I checked for leaks as when it starts running hot the fluid is always low and I can't see any leaks when I let it run for a while.

please help.

MY gauge goes all the way to the red, but my car is not everheating. Maybe replace the collant temp sensor? My fan is on all the time, and I even turn my AC fan on once a while. But my car does not spew coolant or use coolant.

Check your sensors. Maybe get a new one from CarQuest or Schucks or whatever. Go cheap. If that is the problem, get a Genuine Honda one to replace the cheaper one. I am too lazy to change my sensors, but I know it isn't going to hurt my car if I don't do it.

I may agree with the sensor being bad as well...... does the engine actually overheat (i.e. blowing steam from the radiator) or does the temp gauge just spike? This has happened to me before and the symptom was bad wiring going to the sensor.

If it is overheating it could be your thermostat.

Remove the radiator cap when cold start the car and watch for bubbles,
if no bubbles change the thermostat if you have bubbles it's the
head gasket.Does it smoke at all.Good luck.
