Default New dizzy, car still acting up

ok, so I got a 96 civic hatch with b18c1 bottum and b16 head with R cams. So my tach in the car started acting up and bounching around all over so I figure my dizzy is going out. I go out an pick up one at advanced auto and slap it on there, now about a week later it seems like it my new dizzy starting to do the same thing. I've replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignitor, and coil. Everything is all new, for example,my vafc2 will say 2000 rpm's while my tach with say 2100, and jump to 2300, then back down to 1700, while my vafc2 is still at about 2000 rpm. Here's a little video i have of it, the check engine light is only code 41, o2 sensor...and that has nothing to do with it the dizzy, so...any idea's...im sure its the dizzy again, but im just wondering why would it go out agin like thisonly after having it for a month, and replacing all those parts within the last week, also dont mind the rpm's being alittle high for it idleing, im working out the bugs for everything

Might want to check the tach wire on the back of the cluster, does it misfire at all? If not, I would suspect a high resistance in that wire from the ICM to the tach. If your engine runs fine, and the VAFC does not get a jittery signal, only things to blame is the wire and ground for that tach, and the tach itself.

Most Honda tachs are consistently off by as much as 300-400rpm at an 8000rpm redline.

Pin number is C8, on the connector right behind the tach, is BLU in color. Make sure none of your other instruments are going nuts either.

I'm an idiot. I was thinking you were talking about your speedometer jumping. I was going to say to check your speed sensor.

I don't know what to tell you about this. But checking out the wire mentioned above is definately a step in the right direction. I agree that if the vafc is getting a good signal from the distributor, it shouldn't be the culprit.

Good luck with it man. Wish I knew what to tell you.

EDIT: I searched in the integra forum and people keep posting to check the connection to the ignitor. I'm not sure if that will help you any, but they said if the tach is jumping, its most likely a bad connection to the ignitor, or a failing ignitor.

it looks just like what the speedo was doin in my old car. It could be possible that your tach is malfunctioning. My speedo would randomly bounce away from the correct speed and then drop below or sometimes drop to 0 and not work at all. I replaced the cluster and no more trouble. Try another cluster and if it does the same then I think you got a bad ground/loose wire or something.

Also about factory tachs being off, boy I had an aftermarket tach that was way the hell off reading anywhere from 200-700 too low. I have an EX cluster now that I trust way more. I'd trust that VAFC2 more though obviously since your tach is bouncin.
