Need Some help launching with my new ITR Tranny
Well I finally got the chance last night to take my car out and try launching it. I started at 4k and worked my way up. At about 4500 I could launch but it would spin pretty bad and when I went to shift it would bog down. If I launch any lower then that then ill just bog down. Any suggestions?
ummm if you are revving 1st gear out to redline, and bogging down when shifting to 2nd, you are either a shitty shifter and the RPM is dropping drastically, or you arent letting the car get traction in 1st and allowing it to rev out, or your clutch is slipping, or your have too much traction, or your car is turbo and you are falling out of the power band.
"launch" the car at a certain RPM, if the tires are spinning, let it keep spinning until it has traction, dont give it more gas until you have traction, let it rev out to redline, shift to 2nd. if its spinning a lot off the line, lower your "launch" rpm or lower your tire pressure/heat them up better if on a drag radial or slick, and try again.
some specs on the car may be useful. or check the Drag Racing forum.

Ya Im thinking Im not letting the car get traction in first gear. Because I know its not the clutch bc that only has about 6k miles on it. I also hate the idea of feathering the clutch. So you think I should just launch at 4500 and hold the gas there till I get traction?

If you don't want it to bog after shifting you need micro polished shift forks and ported gear synchros. It's fairly cheap to get done nowadays...</TD></TR></TABLE>

Thank you for the kind words, Cory.
Yes, my company is now importing polished shift forks and ported gear syncros, in association with RTW DC2R. The entire kit for install is only $129.95, and man, it makes ALL the difference in the world. Reduces shifts by 215%, and increase transmission life by 1,254%!

Before you learn how to launch it you need to know how to offroad.

When you feel the tires spinning, press the clutch in partially until the tires start to catch, then release to clutch, and give the gas pedal hell.
