Default intake filter only is that bad?

ok this might be a really retarded question but i dont think theres anything wrong with it but yah here goes

so i was sick and tired of that stupid humming noise that the intake was making so i took out the intake pipe and just took the filter and connected it right into the manifold will any problems occur with my engine if i leave it like that? because i know some people just have no intake period so i dont know if i should keep the filter like that or put the pipe back on and bare with the annoying humming noise?

I know how you feel about that big hoggin intake noise. Its getting sort of old. It really depends on what car you have. The only issue I can see, is you might not be using the line that reroutes oil and other crap back into the engine to be burnt off. Cant remember what its called. It will leak small amount of goo into your engine compartment if its just hanging loose. Not to mention, it might look a little odd with a filter bolted right to your throttle body. Other than that, it wont hurt your engine.

Minus the fact that you'll have less power then stock, it'll be fine. Get an icebox w/ OEM arm

you're sucking up all the hot air from your engine, which will decrease performance. Go turbo and you'll get rid of that annoying intake sound
