Default a/c grind type noise upon startup of car.

when i got in my car earlier, i started it and it was idleing at 1500 rpms, the a/c was switched to off as soon as i turned it on it made a grind type clunk type noise (its hard to describe) and then my rpms went back to normal. my a/c blows cold and everything seems to work just like it should, am i supposed to not turn the a/c to off or something when i turn the car off?

i have an 07 Si coupe

oh ic, btw i noticed i have the recirculate on when i had the a/c off and your not exactly posta do that and then turn the a/c on in recirc. mode. it should be on normal a/c when you start the car most likely..this could be contributing to the noise im guessing?

The ac should be off completely before you start the car. Turning off the a/c when you get out of the car is a good habit to get into.

Ive heard allot of people on the board describe the problem you are having. I haven't had the noise yet so ill be of no help on that.

what im saying is, i think it has only happend when i turn the car off, leave it in recirculation mode, and get in it the next day turn the a/c back on in recirculation mode and it makes that noise..

I've heard this before but never a reason for it. Why should the a/c be off before starting the car?

This is a common issue, turning the A/C on too soon will cause it.
let the car idle for a bit before u activate it and this will alleviate the issue.
