I'm thinking of swapping a B20 into a civic (not sure which chassis I'ma use yet since OBD-II is a ***** to pass on a swap in NY).
I'm not looking to make 500whp or even turbo the stupid thing for that matter, it's simply that the substandard 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8 displacements that Honda uses get owned by the fact that my area is very hilly and there's no torque for **** in those engines. And an H22 or F20B swap is too expensive right now.
What's the minimum I can build it so the bottom end doesn't fall apart on me.
I'm probably just gonna leave it stock - I/H/E - I just didn't wanna accidently rev it and have the bottom end fall apart.
Not looking to throw out outstanding dyno #'s - just wanna know if I redline it it's not gonna blow up.

keep the stock rev limit and you shouldnt have any problems assuming the engine is healthy to start with. if you want to rev a little higher arp rod bolts are a must.

No, I don't care what the redline is (I'm assuming it's something normal like 6500 or something). I just don't wanna get on it too hard and own the block

Jeez, so just to make it "safe" even at the stock redline I'd need new pistons/rods/bolts and bored and sleeved?

no no you'd only need all that to see some really high rpms. stock rev limit is fine.

Well as that block gets raped easily, obviously the stock rev limit is not fine.
It's fine in a CRV w/ an auto trans and such - but they tend to get raped if you beat on them too hard from what I've seen.
So I was just wondering what people do to keep a stock redline, but eliminate the chance of the bottom end taking a nose-dive.
