Working in the garage.

Need to remove the crankshaft bolt. I tried heating the bolt and using a 550lb impact. I even tried with a crankshaft pulley holder tool...I cant seem to get that bolt off.

Ideas?

 

no, it's no reverse threaded.

don't heat the bolt either, that expands the bolt making it harder to get out.

have you tried the way I did it in my write-up? I just recently did this on my Civic and it worked great again.

Yeah, I tried your way, but I think cuz I am using a 3 food bar instead of using the 5' foot cheater bar. I will run to Home Depot and get a steel pipe to go around this Harbor tool pry bar. I will also have to get the extension from the pry bar to the bolt since mine composes of three extensions connected to each other.

Where did you get the extension that long?

My bro flew from Texas just to help me with this bolt....the Civic I did two years ago just came off like butter, this one is giving me a hard time.

yeah, the long cheater pipe is definitely helpful.

I bought my extension at Sears, Craftsman It's a 20" 1/2 drive extension.

I think I'd have to agree that the Civic bolt is easier, I didn't have to lean on the bar quite as much with this one. The loud "POP" when the bolt broke those was the same though

Went to Sears and got the 20 in 1/2 extension. With the 1/2 " ratchet, harbor freight breaker bar attached to the pulley holding tool, I gave it all my strenth and it finallt popped. I got a six foot 1" galvanized pipe from Home Depot to put into the ratchet...gosh, I was so happy. I spent 2 hours running around LA getting parts. YOu have it right...this is all cheater bar. 5Foot makes a big difference.

yes, it's a loud pop. This last one I did in the garage so the pop seemed that much louder and my mom snapped her head around the corner cause she thought something happened

I actually just loaned my pulley holding tool to a local HT member (rhdune16) because he was helping a friend by swapping a H22 into their Accord and doing a timing belt job for them but didn't have the tool. He called me up and asked if I knew where to get one locally and I told him nowhere, believe me I searched when I was looking for one, so I let him borrow mine. I've met him a couple other time so I didn't make him give me a deposit or anything even though he offered.

No, I have no rattle gun. But my Honda Ascot is anticlockwise rotation. I believe it's termed reverse rotation motor. I have put power bar & good 19"mm socket on pulley nut. Secured it so it hits hard on my chassis but it won't budge. Can I heat it without melting any oil seals or not. Or do I have to buy a rattle gun.

 

Sorry I forgot to say I flicked key several time to engage starter therefore hoping to loosen nut. But no go & don't wish to burn out starter or solenoid or ignition ion wiring. Does the nut undo anti clockwise on this engine

On this engine, doing that trick would be tightening the bolt.

Two ways I have had success with removing the bolt;
6' breaker bar and gently leaning on it. That puts lots of pressure on it, be wary. Cheap breaker bars and sockets will shatter, impact 19mm for the crank bolt. Honda Crank tool to prevent the crank from turning. Always apply the crank tools breaker to the ground. Against the body you will just fight the engine mounts.
If that doesn't work, get a small MAP gas torch and hit the washer/bolt head with heat. Careful as the MAP gas is hot, you can burn the washer.
Reapply torque and the bolt will loosen.
