getting my fathers old school bike.
so my dad hasn't rode his motorcycle in about 7 years and now were getting it fixed for me to ride to school and work. this way i can save on gas and on parking
.
so the bike is a 1976 Honda 400 four (super sport)
i guess its sort of a classic. if anyone knows more about this bike, it would be great to hear some info.
its gonna cost around $400 to have the carbs taken out and cleaned or something. it had gas in its tank for those 7 years or so...
. and its gonna cost $120 for tires.
so what do you guys think about my new/old bike?

User Haleiwa-Brando has one, I believe. Also, check out sohc4.us for a wealth of info on the old Hondas.
I actually just found '68 350 that I think I'm getting for free, but it's in need of a full rebuild. I'll come back with pics if I get it this weekend.
I love the bikes, keep us posted!

Yeah...i have a 62 Dream 350 sitting in the shed in the back just collecting rust because my father won't let me do what i want to it (cafe babay).
He says he's going to work on it...he doesn't.
I tell him let me work on it, he says go ahead, but he has to approve every mod...
I say the only way i'm working on it and getting it to where he can ride it again is he lets me make a cafe racer outta it....
So it just keeps sitting back there.

They're GREAT little bikes, dont' expect it to be as fast as a modern bike, or brake as well, but for what it is, it's GREAT.
I've had mine for about a year, and it's been fun the whole time.

Awsome pick up. I'm currently working on a 78 Honda Hawk CB400T
Do yourself a favor. Go here --> http://myworld.ebay.com/siriusconinc . This guy has lots of classic bike parts. I've bought two carb rebuild kits (like $23 bux each) and a front brake line from them and i plan on buying more. This way you can at least get the parts cheap.

Found it on Craigslist. Driving to Charlotte to hang out with my lady and some buddies and picking it up tomorrow morning!
Guy was kind of vague about its condition, other than saying it's in pieces and in need of a rebuild, but he has all the parts. I don't know if that means new or old parts, or how dismantled the bike is, but it should be a great project nonetheless.
Here's what the bike looked like in its day, at least:

Crappy picture, but you get the idea.
I'm torn. I don't know if I want to cafe this thing or restore it back to stock. I'm leaning toward the cafe, however.
