Default Which motor for '89 LS

I'm looking at picking up an '89 LS shell and I want to swap a B series into it. I'd like to get decent NA power and not break the bank. I was looking at the Hasport mount kit, which only works with cable trans. I was thinking about a B16, but maybe a B18A/B. I don't really want a GSR motor. If I could find a B17, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I doubt I will. I guess I'm having a hard time deciding between a high reving motor or a slightly more torquey (torquie? torquy?) motor. I'm less interested in 1/4 mile times and would rather have something I could throw around on back roads

decent NA power and not breaking the bank do not belong in the same sentence

find an obd0 b18a1. they're easy to swap in with the right mounts.

True, but I mean, hmotorsonline.com has a complete B16 OBD0 swap for $1500, which sounds pretty good to me. I'm just worried it won't have the torque I'm used to from my H23

it wont have torque anywhere near what an h23 has. bone stock, you're looking at less than 100wtq.

I wouldn't expect any of them to match my torque. I actually dyno'd higher TQ than HP by 1. I'm leaning towards that B18A, but hmotors doesn't seem to have them listed on the site

And does anyone have a link to the diagram of different transmission and gear ratios?
