a tranny problem
well, i did a search, and it seems that i cant find the answer, because no one has had an experience like me. I had my 3rd and 4th gear syncro changed about 2 months ago. and now its grinding at high rpms only if i shift fast. If i shift normally it wont grind. and I did watch the shop that changed my syncro out just to make sure they didnt use gm syncro mesh. can a syncro go out that quick, because i never have grinded ever since the rebuild, and i also do not slam gears. im hoping my tranny fluid is really low. someone tell me whats going on
never had any experience with this problem, but why not just take it back to the shop that swapped out your synchros? and just wondering, but how much did they charge for parts and labor?
depending on what parts were actually changed out, and what the condition of the engagement dogs on the gears themselves, you may not have actually solved your problem. Need more info to diagnose.
If they didnt replace the fork, then that could be an issue. When a syncro is bad it causes you to put more strain on it to go into that gear. A while of doing this either bends the fork slightly, or digs a grove in it from forcing it on the collar. Also You should of done the gear when you did the syncro because if it was grinding, it more than likely left its mark on the gear on the opposing shaft also. Good luck, if you need it done right IM me for a price quote.

This is basically what I came in here to say.
Change the fork and the gear also. I had the same problem that you did and changing out these parts along with the synchros and the bearings solved the problem.

well, i put gm syncromesh in again, and now its fine. its wierd, cuz i just had gm syncromesh in before this change i did today. can dirty tranny fluid possibly make it grind.
