filed a compression ring too much....engine builder input wanted
hey guys....i was in the process of filing my rings down and got all the top compression rings done and set perfect....however when i started to file the second set of compression rings i didnt realize that the material would come off way faster than the top rings and i ended up filing way too much off...i wanted to end up with .023 gap on the second ring but when i measured it was somewhere between .032-.034
this was on the first one i did so the others have not been touched yet..would this increased gap cause excessive blowby in whichever cylinder its placed in?
pretty much im just asking if i can get away with it or if i need to go pick up a replacment ring....do they even sell a single ring? cuz it would suck to pay another 60 bucks for just one ring...
id appreciate any advice...thank you

im probably just gonna buy another set....but id still like to hear what others have to say...thanks
actually, total seal sent me one ring when i accidently broke it during installation. I'm not sure exactly what rings are you using(oem or aftermarket), but hey, its worth a try right..?
I would try to get a single ring myself.
I am no professional engine builder but gapping mine to the same spec, I think much more would end up with more blowby than you want to deal with. I can fill a catch can in 4 passes with mine.
