Spark plug wires?
Its about that time again, so I went over to autozone to pick up a new pair of spark plug wires for the ole LS. They wanted $55 for the OEM set
I cant remember what I paid last time, but Im sure as hell it wasn't $55. I can get Bosches for $45...anyone know a non-online place to get the OEM set more cheaply?

the bosch shouldnt be bad... have you looked into NGK's? as for where to get OEM wires other than the dealer and not online.. I don't know..sorry.. hahah at least u didn't check Kragen.. they had the Boschs for like $80.. i walked out the door...
yeah GSR parts are more expensive.. but he stated he had an LS... so it might be less.. not sure.. I had magnecors... $58 isn't bad for NGKs..
if your car is relatively stock or has minor bolt ons the stock wires are fine and there won't be much if any benefit in replacing them.. however if they are old and in need of replacement then you'll see benefits from replacing them.. otherwise for a lightly modded or stock car.. the stock wires are fine..

So, back to the original question...where can I get cheap wires?!
OEM, Magnacor, NGK, doesn't matter as long as I dont have to shell out $50 for them. Guess I'll give the acura dealer around here a call, but every encounter I've had with them has ended up sucking *****...

whats the benefit of adding new wires besides looks?
performance wires are better for less resistance and cracking to the core of the wire.
i recommend NGKs and OEMs for basic boltons.
if you get MSD or you are force fed... get Magnecores, MSD, or Vitek wires.
summitracing sells NGKs and MSD wires for a good price. i got an extra set of Vitek wires for sale. the best ones out there rite now in the market. $90 shipped (compared to $130 at shops and online). send me a message if youre interested in the Vitek wires.

the best deal on NGK's is at inlinefour and price depends on what model teg you got , the LS ones are like $40 and the GSR are around $60, heres the link http://www.inlinefour.com/ngksparplugw.html

Well if the best I can do is $38 plus shipping, I might as well get the Bosches for $45. My engine is bone stock, but it has 65k on it, and this will be the first time the wires have been replaced, so Im expecting a small bump in gas milage.
OT: anyone recommend any trustworthy shops in SoCal? My 70k timing belt + water pump is approaching, and I hear its not worth doing yourself...

Viteks quality behind their wires speaks for itself. learn more about it before you hate.
EDIT: if a performance wire is what youre lookin for... OEM aint the best way to go. its just a H-T fad that people are sayin that OEM wires are the best. its only if you have minor mods and stock ignition.

if you are able to, or have the tools too, check the resistance in the plug wires, they may still be fine. I have the original wires on my car with 131k on the clock. Everytime i change the plugs or do routine maintanence work. Resistance is still within spec, no cracking, no crimps, and still seat up to the engine fine.

first of all, you cant compare a "generic 8mm silicone" brand to a real brand in hypothetical testing. even in valid testing, engineers are still able to develop better products, already assuming that stock wires are better. if you read up on the materials used in Vitek wires, you will see that they do not only use silicon material in their wires. ive talked to them and they backed up their test results against stock wires. cant always read those articles and assume they are valid for all wires. unless they did comparison tests vs. brand name wires, then i would believe it. if this was the case that stock wires were the better wire... you wouldnt see top dawgs racing with wires such as moroso, vitek, etc. if it was robbin them of spark capability. YEAH! so what do you got to say now!
My wires seems to be okay (resistance tests, no sparking, etc.) and after tune-ups, I would still have a hesitation when acceleration, especially when I had something on such as the AC. I couldn't resolve the problem until one day I bought a $55 (from NAPA) set of plugs and the car has been running like a champ ever since!!!!
