w0rd.

OP, even if it worked in a previous vehicle, if the wiring is not done correctly in the new vehicle it won't work.

Code 21 is the VTEC spool solenoid BTW, so something is definitely wrong with your wiring to the solenoid.

92-95 ehhh, not sure of the year i guess?

second, at about 12-15 words, a period should have kicked in somewhere...seriously, some sort of punctuation to give that wall of text a semblance of order...

what ecu are you using?

I think before a n00b's trial period can be over they should have to pass a test proving they can read, write, and understand the English language.

ECU will not go into limp mode due to no VTEC.

@ OP:
Your DX isn't prewired for VTEC.

You need to run separate wires (separate from the harness) from A) The VTEC spool solenoid to the ECU, and B) The VTEC oil pressure sensor to the ECU.

The VTEC solenoid plugs into pin A4 on your ECU harness and the oil pressure sensor plugs into pin D6.

Wire both of those up, and VTEC will work fine.

A4 = 1st sector (all the way on the left), 2nd column, 2nd row (from the left).
D6 = 4th sector (all the way on the right), 3rd column, 2nd row (from the left).

Sector diagram:
| A | B | C | D |
(That's how you see the plugs when you look at the rear of the ECU).

Just pin the wires into the ECU harness and when you plug it in it'll work.

Hope that helps, you can PM me and I can send you pages to help if you don't understand what I'm talking about.

EDIT:
PS:
I'm assuming you're using an OBD-I to OBD-II conversion harness to run the OBD-II B16 ECU with your OBD-I civic?

You don't need to wire up the knock sensor if you don't want to. It's worthless as hell, by the time it detects knock your rod's sticking outta the block. What kind of computer setup are you using?
