power potentional in mini me? what can i do?
ok this is my setup, b2 block, z6 head (mini me).i have i/h/e. adj. cam gear, msd cap and coil kit, obx intake manifold, 8.5lb flywheel, stage 3 clutch,si tranny. i just bought some 10mm plug wires that r coming and ordered a mugen sx4 chip for my p28, is the chip a good move?, i mean im tryin to make this setup the fastest without a turbo or nitrous application, (stock internals), but do have new rod bearings and rings in it. so will that chip help? and what else is next for me that i can do to make it faster?
may i ask why no turbo? if its because stock internals, that nothing to worry about at the moment. You can push the D series to about 220 WHP safely on stock internals and can build together a turbo kit cheaper then you payed for your I/H/E

First off, what exactly are the specs on this chip? What is your budget for this project? I think the plug wires are probably overkill, as is the MSD parts. Without changing out your stock internals and without forced induction, you are going to be limited power wise.
One last thing, I would ditch that OBX intake manifold. I've seen that manifold lose power on the dyno, about 3 to be exact. I would either go with a D16Y8 or a Skunk2 intake manifold, or for a bit more the Edelbrock Victor X. Again, everything is going to hinge around what you have to spend on your car.

the chip just says 5700 vtec 10000 rpm redline, and it disables knock sensor and speed governor. i got the msd cause my mini me has a higher compression with the b2 flattops, i know i should go skunk2 with the manifold, and i got bigger wires cause i have the stock 7mm on there now and they heat up with that coil, so i put it ngk plugs and ordered bigger wires. i could go forced induction but i have a/c in the car, i wanna make it show worthy but fast, ive put body kit and rims on it already, i guess i need to decide which to do, would my stock internals damage if i get a 75 shot, the ring si but in, where from hi-tech then had a chrome lips on the edge of the rings, i dont know what that'll help.
With that chip you are going to blow up your motor. There really is no need to have such an aggressively programmed ecu. The D15 bottom is not going to handle 10K rpm revs, much less 8K rpm revs. You won't even be making power up that high. If you have a P28, just use the stock map for now, it will be more than enough for what you have. You also do not need the MSD ignition. Yes your compression ratio is higher than stock, but it's not so high where the stock components are going to keep up with it. The NGK plugs are fine, but stock wires are more than enough as well. Trust me on this, I put together this same exact setup in my hatch (which is now sold). My stock ignition was fine, plug wires was fine. The only difference that I had from your setup was that I stayed OBD0 and used an automatic PR3 ecu. As for the 75 shot, it may work for a few times, but don't count on your bottom end staying together, especially if you use that ecu chip. I'm not trying to be pessimistic about your set up, but I just don't want you to blow your motor up.
to get the power you want without boosting it, build your internals. Thats a number 1 thing to do with or withpout boost if you want power and to take better advantage of upgrades.
and your chiipping..not on stock please. let that motor live a good life..with new internals.
after some internals, you can chip it. then it will stand up to such aggressive chipping.
