Adjustable Cam Gears back to Stock 99 Civic SI (How To)
Is there a way to tell if my adjustable cam gears were adjusted without adjusting the timing properly. Also how to I set it back to stock? Do I have to use the timing light or will the computer automatically adjust since I'm sending the timing back to stock. Please Help.
Can you elaborate a little regarding what you're asking?
If you want to check your base ignition timing, you'll need a timing light.
What timing are you looking to set "back to stock"? Base ignition timing, or cam timing?

I have adjustable cam gears and the intake and exhaust are both retarted 1/2 a degree.
The motor doesn't sound like it running right and it shakes when its at idle (the motor itself).
I want to get the cam timing and base ignition timing back to stock.
My main goal is to eliminate the shaking and get it back to purring the way she should.

Well if you want to bring it back to stock, just set the cam timing to 0,0, then use your timing light to set the base ignition timing to 16 +/- 2 degrees BTDC. Don't forget to jump the service connector when setting the ignition timing.
BTDC is Before Top Dead Center right?
I may sound like a newb (because I kinda am when it comes to timing), but is the service connector the 2 pin connector under the kick panel that you can use to make your CEL blink to get a code readout?
Also the will the timing light come with instructions?
