Time to change Fuel?
Hey all.
New member here, just joined today to post in another thead regarding my MPG, but wanted to make a new post regarding this.
Been spending alot of the last few days researching online about my new car and my concern with it's so far MPG. (It's a Civic Sedan Ex Automatic.) Today in my search I became aware of something else. I want to see if I should be concerned with.
First off I am not a "Car" person, persay. I'll probably never enchance my car in any way as far as performace goes. I just want it to last a long time and get me from A to B. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my new car, it's my first one ever and I want to take care of it. So that being said (and I get a feeling I might get a little ribbed for this.) Should I stop using Arco? I'm not asking to nessicarily improve my MPG, (thought it would be nice) but more to just take care of the car. Although I admit I love finding the lowest gas prices, I've recently realized that the differences from a place like Arco VS say Chevron comes to like a buck or two difference for a tank full. Big whoop.
I'll still probably use the cheapest grade, 87 or unleaded or whatever you call it. But just looking for some recommendations. Change brands to take care of the car better?
I've only put Arco in once, it's only the second tank ever. If I switch, just let it get relatively low and then put something new and Better in?
I know I live near a Chevron and a 76. I can't for the life of me think if there is a Shell near by. I don't think I've been to a Shell in years. Are any of those gonna be about the same? As far as improving from Arco that is.
I appreciate any input. This forum has been very useful, thank you!

arco:
for discount gasoline i usually run valero. if chevron is in the same price range i run it. back in my high school days i had an IROC camaro and right after i filled it with arco for the first time i was in about $500 worth of repairs to replace my injectors. there's a reason why it's cheaper.

I figured already I'm gonna be changing. I haven't seen any posts yet saying how wonderful Arco is. I guess I should of paid more attention to this stuff before. But no time like the present!
Is there a significant difference between the better brands? Shell, Chevron, 76, etc?
I guess just changing from Arco will be improvement enough. At least I hope so. Glad I got a reply. Thanks.

Someone told me they don't like Shell because the put additives in thier Gas. Bad additives I assume he meant.
Anyone know anything about that? From the info I gathered, Shell and Chevron seem to be the way to go.

i try not to run anything but shell in my vehicles (if i can)... i had one right next door growing up so it was really nice lol... i guess im not familiar with arco?or those other discount gas names you guys mentioned.
ARCO is midgrade I believe, and I don't like them one bit, but they are better than discount by far.
76, Chevron, Shell are my favorites.

Really? Well I'm now not a fan of BP, but I only used it when I traveled. Oh, and Sinclair is (dino) poop too I believe. Or I got one bad tank and they really are the shiznit. Either way, I steer clear of that place.

I think one of the biggest thing you need to be concerned about, if your always looking for the lowest price, is the reputation of the company. Back when I drove a VW bug, I use to use Arco. That was until a friend of mine got a tank full of crap from Arco, causing several thousand dollars in damage. That was the last time I used Arco. Another company to watch out for is Rotton Robby's.
I use Chevron and Union 76. Both are bit more expensive but the piece of mind is worth it to me.
