......um.....no.......what the hell would possible make you think that lowering your car will imporve gas mileage.....there is no corelation whatsoever....and if you need an excuse to drop your car....how bout it looks sick and handling is like a night and day difference

It will cut the amount of air going underneath the car, thus reducing drag somewhat.

 

If anything your car might be a little more aerodynamic, so Yes, I could believe it. Though the difference is probably minimal.

when I had my car lowered I always felt like it got tossed around less. I'm sure this has at least some minor correlation with fuel mileage.

You're still pushing the same drag area through the air, with the exception of the fractions of an inch of tires that are no longer facing front. However, the disturbance caused by other minimal things like an extended antenna, having a right-side mirror, and other random stuff likely has a more profound effect. So the difference is probably not even minimal, it's probably negligible.

Modifying how you drive the car will have a much bigger effect on your gas mileage.

Agreed. Yes, a minimal, yet barely mentionable amount of drag is reduced when you lower your car. Also, the car WILL handle better with a performance setup, and this could also be good in emergency situations, like accident avoidance (If you don't think the performance aspect is enough). I hope this gives you the edge you need to decide to lower your friggin' car.

Yeah, it'll be a bit more aerodynamic because it's lower - but if you claim that you're noticing "better gas mileage" because of it you're full of **** and somebody needs to dick whip you.

 

You will increase mileage by lowering your car, but unless you slam the car to the ground to the point that it is no longer drivable on the open road, you will not notice the gain. You'd do better to get a set of light small rims with like a 195 series high treadwear tire on them. I have a set for lang trips and I usually get about 3mpg more with them. Plus this keeps you from burning through your nice tires on long trips.

 

I lowered my car and switched out my heavy 15's for some light weight 15's and gained a few miles a gallon

 

i dont think it necessarily affects gas mileage but it affects your driving style. after lowering my car, i drove slower because of god damn potholes and what not all over the streets of san francisco -___-'. it prevented me from "too fast."

hahaha i just test drove a kids EK with coilovers and forgot how slow you need to take bumpy roads. it's been a while since i've had a lowered car. needless to say, we hit a few bumps and all his **** in the back jumped about 2 feet in the air. whoops...

 

That's why if you're carting china, you put it in the back of mom's stock accord

 

you shouldnt need to convice yourself to lower it...just do it. you wont regret it
