Default Help? Advice. Broken Valve.

Went to seattle thsi week, bought a car that ran GREAT for 2,000. 1993 honda civic SI HB. Was a friends friend that sold it to me. It ran great, really clean, no knocks, its all stock. d16z6. Was on the way home and reached around 60 miles out of spokane in Ritzville or something, a trucker stop, and the car broke a valve (which is what the guy had fixed earlier, but didnt shave the head when he put on the new head gasket). So anyway, car runs great, sounds great, burns a little oil at higher RPM's (normal for an older car, right?) So this is my question. Replace the valves, valve springs, valve guides, get head shaved, replace gaskets, or, spend the extra money and time while its broke on swapping in a fresh engine. I have a limit of about 2,000, doing the mechanic work myself, and with some help. Advice? Suggestions?

It really depends on what you want. The d16z6 is a great little engine. I have one all original and over 215,000 on the clock. Replaced it 2nd head gasket did a compression test after and had 175 across the boards. It uses about 1qrt oil every 3k should have replaced the valve seals. If you just plan on a dd then rework the head have it checked slap it back on and run it. If your looking fir a project car save some more$$$ and swap in something like a B series or go really sick and do an H series swap

I plan on doing a swap, i believe, not exactly sure what, and ill soon be able to tell you my limit on cash. And ill need lots of help and advice, im sure if i search i can find a step by step on swapping. if i swap to a h22 would i need to redo my motor mounts? h22's are cheaper, most likely more within my price range, what kind of gas mileage would i get? Any other suggestions for motors? including things that would need to be changed.

hard telling mpg without more about the setup. With the appropriate driving style and the sensors/motor in good condition, I'm sure 30mpg is attainable on an h22. Also depending on the gearing, esp if you do an h2b.

H22 would be a bit more expensive than 2gs more like 4 for a manual tranny. I would stick to the b-series.

for the amount of cash your talking about used is the only thing you will be able to buy. A crate motor will be several grand and you still need all the other parts
