hey guys how is that cap supposed to be kept in place.
>>Im referring to the driver side half shaft.? that closes the gap around the half shaft where it connects to the tranny. It seemed to pop into place at first. but now it just snugs on and eventually just slide right off.. and i supposed to use some kind of adhesive.????

I'm assuming you mean the CV shaft won't stay in your transmission. There is a small metal clip on the end of your CV shaft the locks it into place inside the tranny. You gotta push it in until it pops into place. There should be like 1/4inch gap inbetween the shaft and tranny when its locked in place.

I think that piece that you are asking about is just a dirt shield the sealing is done by the drive shaft seal

Number 18 in this diagram is the oil seal

Number 21 is the intermediate drive shaft on the small end of that there is a shield that you can't really see and that is the dust shield that I asked you about in your other post

Make sure you're putting the axle in right - if you put it in wrong (and a lot of people do) you knock that stupid clip right off and then it doesn't seal for ****.
Make sure ur putting it in straight as hell, not crooked. Then make sure it "clicks" in.
