i have a 1989 honda civic hatch with the b16 swap. its got header, exhaust, intake manifold, and a throttle body. car smells like burning oil and coolant on and off. it puts out white smoke out the exhaust when i start getting on it and rap it out to 8. have changed the oil twice since i noticed it smoking. i've had a valve adjustment since then and im running royal purple 10W30, but nothing seems to help. when i put on my new intake manifold, i noticed a fresh coat of oil all throughout the plenum and runners of the manifold, but i don't have any oil leaks anywhere, except a tiny tiny leak on my camshaft seals. all of my vaccum/coolant/oil lines are good and in the correct inlets/outlets of the manifold. has anyone had this problem, or does anyone have any advice for me what things i might check? any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
If you have oil in the IM them that points to your PCV. These can burn oil at a terrific rate because they stick open and suck the vapors in the IM.

the hose from my pcv valve to the IM is bone dry, that was the first thing i checked. along with checking the hose from my valve cover to the intake.
Then it is time for a leakdown test. Find the one hole that is losing the most air and listen to the throttle body w/o intake tube, remove oil cap and listen, then listen to the exhaust for air escaping.

so i just got my car back. the compression was between 170 & 175 psi per cylinder, and everything checked out good. they said that i am getting oil into my intake manifold when they did the leakdown test, but they couldn't figure out where it was coming from. i even checked all of the lines going into and out of the intake manifold, and everysingle one of them was bone dry (except for the coolant lines). i'm about to just say expletive it and deal with adding 2 qts of oil every 3000 miles and a little smoke hear and there........unless anyone else has any ideas??? let me know what you think

the pc valve is the valve that goes THRU the flange inbetween the far left runners on your intake manifold where it bolts up to the head. the valve itself is fixed in a plastic sealer (which is usally the first thing to break when swapping IM's).
