Just wondering
the right taillight on my 4dr 97 civic don't illuminate when i hit the brake pedal. Turn on the headlights or parking light and it lights up but when i hit the pedal it does not illuminate.
Strangely on my brothers 97 integra its the complete opposite with his car being it illuminates when braking but with the headlights or park lights on, it does not light up but illuminates when the brake pedal is hit.
did a quick fuse check .. didnt find anything.
Any ideas??

I'd hate to suggest such an obvious thing, but did you check the bulbs? Perhaps your secondary filament has since burned out, it may be worth taking a quick look. Or maybe you've got some buildup on your bulb's contacts that would be worth looking into as well.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Check both filaments b/c the rear has two so that they light up when you turn your lights on. One might be burned out but the other not. That is the easiest thing to check and it's free, so start there and report back if you don't see any problems.

It's the little wire that goes across the inside of the bulb. Some bulbs have two and some have only one.

I replaced the bulb and it went back to normal.
