Default CNC motor plates for tubed S2K

Hello everyone.
I just finished up some mount plates for a friend so I thought that I would post it up. Nothing too exciting but still something to look at. Enjoy.

I first started off by making the fixture which will be used to hold my part while being cut.

Here is what it looks like when the fixture is all sqaured up and ready to be used.

This is a piece of aluminum with a trace of the template that was provided by my friend. This piece along with the fixture will get a set of identical holes which will allow the piece to be bolted to the fixture beneath.

Here you can see the threaded holes in the fixture. Once all the programming is done I can bolt it up and start cutting.

With the aluminum piece bolted in place it is time to cut. The piece of aluminum is 3/8 so it took about 3 cuts to get this done.

The last step is to put a bevel on the edge of the piece with the bevel tool. Once the piece is beveled it is done. Some final deburring and its ready to be delivered.

Thanks for looking.

My friend bought the car from someone but it was just the rolling chassis. He is fitting up the motor now so I made the plates for him. I will try to get some pics when the motor is mounted. I havent even seen the car yet either. I only got a chance to see the fiberglass front end so far.

I'm not familiar with mills.... it looks like you where able to cut the aluminum stock without touching the steel fixture underneath.. i didn't know that was possible... thats awesome.

You cant see it in the picture but the cutting tool actually does cut into the fixture by about .003 or so.

No enclosure on the mill? Must make a hell of a mess!

Cool that you did it in one operation, I probably would have just made a soft jaw to hold the part by the profile, and did it in two ops, without drilling holes into it. Your way is obviously much faster, and makes more sense for something quick..

On a side note, I just realized that you're Aka.. How's Hawaii treating you?

Joe,
Hawaii is ok I guess. My shop will be opening up in about a week or so. Iam sure you will be hearing from me in the near future.
When I bought the mill I wasnt really planning on using it for heavy production so I opted for a smaller machine. Hows everything in the AZ ? I bet its hot as hell rite now. Regards
Aka
