jdm itr pistons or ctr piston on my rebuild
well i'm going to be rebuilding my c5 next week, but i'm not sure which pistons either itr or ctr pistons. this is going to be my daily driver for a little. so i want it to be able to run fine on 93 octane. the more power the better but i want a easy to run compression ratio. i haven't been able to find out what type of compression ratio the ctr pistons will give me. thanks, dan
ctr piston will give you a little over 12:5 comp ratio. you will get mixe opinion here.
if you are not planning on adding anymore stuff, stay with jdm/usdm itr piston.
if your planning of adding cams etc in the future running n/a. go with ctr piston.
im running ctr piston at the moment with no other mods running stock ecu running on 91 octane. no problem except of running rich at 7600 rpm and up which is no big deal to me. but others may say different.
fyi. only gained 5 hp and 2 lbs by just putting a ctr piston. not really worth it.

I am in the same boat as you, my ITR motor is being torn apart now but I have decided to stick with stock itr pistons as my car will be mainly street with some track. I was concerned with passing NY emissions and the slightly extra power did not seem worth it. I would base your decisions on your main purpose for the car.

I am confused... you say that you pass. Then you say you should pass. Which is it?

I believe you can still pass with ctr pistons and stock ecu and cams but I will have skunk cams, jdm 2.5" mugen header, car sound cat, port and polished and head and hondata so if you add high compression pistons I think I will be close to the borderline with emissions.
