Default Y7 Intake question

As we all know Y7 intake had to be different from all others and squat on the top of intake manifold. I was wondering if I could just swap intake manifold runners with throttle body and all sensors from Y8 to make TB facing to the side and get myself CAI ... I plan on leaving engine pretty much stock because I love fuel economy and just wondering if it's worth the effort and labor to swap intakes or should I just put high flow square filter [sumthing like K&N] in the box and call it a day? Are there any dry [not oiled] high flow filter that would fit the box?

Thanx for comments

ive seen one with a stand up intake manifold, believe it was the Z6 manifold they used tho..wasnt that big fat Y8. But they said it made a NICE difference vs that stock manifold.

I was rather thinking about side facing like Y8 and most of other honda intakes ... will Y8 fit on Y7 head ... and will it work as it supposed to?

thats the same as Z6, looks exactly like the Y8...both sideways. same as D15b7. and ANY other intake manifold besides Y7.....might have to do some wiring for the Y8

but the size and mounting points are the same? So when I get Y8 or z^ intake I can just swap it and it will fit to mate with y7 head? ... growl ....

Yes, the Y8 IM will swap directly with a Y7 IM. You will need a 96-98 AUTO Y8 IM, new IM gasket, and some hoses. Not sure how much power it will actually get you or whether a k&n is better/worse, but it does allow you to run a turbo without a lot of custom piping. All depends on what you want to do with your car.

Good luck!

I swaped it out on my y7... just make sure you use the y7 TB and injectors... also make sure when u get ur TB gasket get one for the y7 not y8... as for the power gains... next to none... for intake sound improvements 100% better!!

ok, so basically it will bolt up no problem, how about throttle cable location - can I reuse Y7 setup or do I have to go Y8 all the way .... any writeup you've seen around those parts?
