Boosting the performance of my type S
Hi everyone. I bought an 2002 RSX-S two months ago that needed some minor work on it. It seems to be running fine, it has an Injen intake kit and the old owner had neon tubing in the hatch. I managed to replace the rear shocks on the car that set me back quite a bit while saving for performance parts. However, I am finally ready to modify my car. I've looked at ECU reflashes, exhaust kits, and cams. Can't really decide what to do first. I am looking to spend under $600 at present. Also my iVtec seems to kick in quite noticably, more so than the regular VTECs. Was wondering if the previous owner could have changed the cams or if all VTECs kick in aggressively (feels like a 10-15 hp boost). This is the first car I have had worthy of modifying. I had an older Civic LX, which i put a K&N on and a Cat-back system. It doesn't help much having a 115 hp stock motor. Which is why I bought this, much more potential. Any ideas about increasing performance, i'd like to make runs in the low to mid 14's.

more?
ipsk2 camshafts/evs retainers/4.7 or 5.1 final drive/lighten flywheel</TD></TR></TABLE>
he aint gettin that with $600.
is it a cold air or short ram intake? with $600 you could get an exhaust and possibly a flywheel. you wont be getting a good header for that much though. and headwork is out of the question with your budget.

Well, the thing is. I'm new to ECU tuning, and I odn't think i'd be good at tuning anything myself. That's why I would opp for the Re-flash. But it seems odd spending 500+ for a computer when I should probably get an exhaust system first. I just don't know how much I can get with lets say a Skunk2 system. BTW I have a RAM injen intake put on by the previous owner. A Cat-back didn't do much for my old D17 engine, hopefully it will be worth it wit a K20. I don't like a lot of noise without any horsepower gains.

Actually guys. I found a Hondata dealership where I live in Florida. I'm thinking about getting a reflash if they can do it at the Hondata dealer. Has anyone had much improvement with these upgrades, they claim to give 12-20 HP peak and 10-15 Ft-lb of torque, a lowered VTEC point (5200) and a Rev limit option of 8100 or 8600. And it would fit my 600 dollar budget perfectly in addition to my intake. Wise investment?
