yea i know that tow hook doesn't look that great. but i rather have that on my car...so when it gets towed it doesn't break my bumper or rear lip. i just thought it would be useful.

What's wrong with the factory tow hooks?

The purpose of tow hooks on race cars is for wreckers to be able to easily pull race cars out of sand traps, etc. after an off track excursion. No need for them on cars that don't see any track time.

that last sentence was uncalled for. ok lets just say it makes it easier, it doesn't really matter because i live on an island! so if they do take my car...which there isn't much thiefs here...i will know who did it! its basicly like trying to run away from the police on an island...which is ftl, because they will eventually find you.

also i don't think it really makes it that much easier to steal a car. because they can just attach what ever towing device to the stock tow hook. this aftermarket tow hook is basicly the same...except it can save my bumper/lip.

i wanted to try something different. not much cars over here have that.
i plan on building my car up for the tracks.

-------
also i would like to keep this thread on topic. i noticed i've been getting some off topic answers. all i'm asking is...
1. where to get this?
2. will it fit my car?
and thats it...nothing more nothing less. thanks.

datum1.com

it has 2 bolts and a plate. the tow hook goes on one side, the plate on the other. one bolt goes inside your factory tow hook, the other on the outside of it. the nuts keep it in place.

You pretty much got your answers.

And expect to be questioned about putting a tow-hook on a car that doesn't see any competitive tracktime.

And if you go off at an HPDE, you probably shouldn't be out there.

If you must, do it like this, so you don't punch holes in someone's bumper when you accidentally park by braille:

It's nylon webbing, which is flexible and soft, not hard anodized aluminum. Not as bling, but gets the job done.

but man, u gotta work on they way u describe things. u gotta be more specific, seeing as how half of the cars DO have regular tow hooks.

is that the mugen tow hook? i'm not a big fan of that one because i don't want to cut my bumper. i wanted to be able to remove it when i want...and no one can tell i had an aftermarket tow hook on. but thanks for bringing that one up!

Like others have said! Only function is to install one if you track your car! I am looking to get one for next season. I will be running the local tracks pretty regularly next season.
